In today’s business environment, much of the work we do is done in teams. For many, they are not only part of their immediate work team, but they may also be part of several other teams within an organization. Although we are social by nature, some people are much better at being team members than others. For some, it comes naturally, but for most, they need to work at it.
HumanComm works with teams of all sizes (to include entire organizations) to work more effectively, be more productive, and to interact in a healthy way. Through awareness, understanding themselves and others, emphasizing appreciation, and building skills for working together, team performance improves and team members begin to enjoy working together.
Becoming aware of the issues and challenges a team faces is an important part of the process - few organizations take the time to discuss how they work together. The awareness opens up the possibilities to talk about the issues, work through them, and to rise to the next level.
HumanComm’s approach begins with assessing the current state of the team and then developing an intervention plan that may involve training, team building, assessment instruments, and facilitated discussions. Once awareness around the team’s challenges is established, HumanComm focuses on building skills to overcome the challenges. We finish with an evaluation to determine effectiveness.
HumanComm’s Process
- Assessment. Gathering data within the team or system through quantitative and qualitative research methods, which may include surveys, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, participant observation, and document analysis.
- Diagnosis. Using the data, we provide the organization with recommendations based on the issues that we uncover during the assessment phase.
- Intervention. The intervention will be a plan that will include the recommendations presented during diagnosis and may include team building activities, training, facilitated discussions, and assessment instruments such as MBTI and AMSP.
- Evaluation. At the completion of the intervention phase, HumanComm conducts an evaluation to reassess the team.
